Determining the Instantaneous Power Factor of an Electrical System by the use of Hilbert Transform
Keywords:
Power factor, Hilbert Transform, Instantaneous phaseAbstract
A new proposed method to measure the instantaneous power factor of an electrical system is presented and investigated in this paper. This method requires only one current phase hence the measurements error and the cost of data collection can be minimised. The proposed method is based on Hilbert transformation (HT). The obtained data then investigated and analysed to examine the capability and accuracy of this technique in determining the power factor. The simulated results presented in this paper show that the power factor of the simulated system is very much agree with the input data.
